A 28-member panel was established by the AAN to develop quality measures of neurologic care for Parkinson disease. The panel was composed of subject matter experts and experts in development of measurement methods. Existing recommendation statements and their corresponding level of evidence were reviewed and considered for inclusion in draft candidate measures. Two hundred fifty-eight relevant recommendation statements were identified in the medical literature from 8 guidelines and 1 consensus paper. Twelve candidate measures were refined by the expert panel during a 30-day public comment period and by review by the American Medical Association for Current Procedural Terminology (CPT) II codes. All 10 final measures were approved by the AAN Board of Directors.
