The etiology of migraine in general and of migraine during the different periods and events in a woman’s life that are associated with hormonal changes is not known. Genetic factors play a role in making a woman susceptible to migraine (Goadsby et al 2002). Hormonal changes act as triggers for migraine attacks in susceptible women.
